The PMS project: Poor Man’s Supercomputer
We briefly describe the Poor Man’s Supercomputer (PMS) project that is carried out at Eötvös University, Budapest. The goal is to develop a cost effective, scalable, fast parallel computer to perform numerical calculations of physical problems that can be implemented on a lattice with nearest neighbour interactions. To reach this goal we developed the PMS architecture using PC components and de...
متن کاملStatus of the Fermilab Electron Cooling Project
The first stage of the Fermilab Electron Cooling R&D program is now complete: technology necessary to generate hundreds of milliamps of electron beam current at MeV energies has been demonstrated. Conceptual design studies show that with an electron beam current of 200 mA and with a cooling section of 20 m electron cooling in the Fermilab Recycler ring can provide antiproton stacking rates suit...
متن کاملLattice Boltzmann fluid-dynamics on the QPACE supercomputer
In this paper we present an implementation for the QPACE supercomputer of a Lattice Boltzmann model of a fluid-dynamics flow in 2 dimensions. QPACE is a massively parallel application-driven system powered by the Cell processor. We review the structure of the model, describe in details its implementation on QPACE and finally present performance data and preliminary physics results.
متن کاملBeam Diagnosis and Lattice Modeling of the Fermilab Booster
Xiaobiao Huang Beam Diagnosis and Lattice Modeling of the Fermilab Booster A realistic lattice model is a fundamental basis for the operation of a synchrotron. In this study various beam-based measurements, including orbit response matrix (ORM) and BPM turn-by-turn data are used to verify and calibrate the lattice model of the Fermilab Booster. In the ORM study, despite the strong correlation b...
